Virgin Active will open its first flagship club at Empire Tower on Sathorn Road. Occupying around 4,000sqm, this will be the largest and most comprehensive premium fitness club in Thailand treating workout enthusiasts to a dazzling array of equipment and facilities.

With iconic brands such as Virgin Atlantic (an airline), Virgin Money (a bank), Virgin Mobile (a mobile phone company), Virgin Media, Virgin Trains, and Virgin Radio, Virgin is a household name in many countries around the world.

Indeed, Sir Richard Branson, the founder of the Virgin Group needs no introduction. From Virgin’s inception in the 1970s, he has set up more than 400 companies to create the Virgin group. Little wonder Sir Richard was ranked by Forbes Business Magazine as the fourth richest person in England in 2012.  Never one to rest on his laurels, Sir Richard now dedicates much of his time to Virgin Unite – the group’s philanthropic foundation.

In 2014, Sir Richard Branson is bringing another proud achievement of the Virgin Group to Thailand. Virgin Active is the world’s leading fitness operator and one of the most successful businesses within the Virgin Group, with over 270 branches in seven countries worldwide including the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Australia and Singapore.  Virgin Active offers revolutionary fitness clubs with the latest and greatest in workout facilities, together with skilled, friendly experts to support and motivate members seeking an active lifestyle.

Virgin Active will open its first premium flagship club in April at Empire Tower on Sathorn Road. Occupying around 4,000 sqm, this will be the largest and most comprehensive premium fitness club in Thailand treating workout enthusiasts to a dazzling array of equipment and facilities.

With six workout studios and over 200 classes per weekly, Virgin Active promises to offer the most extensive and exciting group exercise program of any fitness club in Bangkok. Classes include adrenaline-pumping workouts like Zumba, Body Pump, Powerplate and Zuu, as well as Mind & Body options like Pilates, Kinesis and antigravity yoga. “Thirty” is a new high intensity interval training program that increases calorie burn and gives an all-over conditioning in just 30 minutes. Cycling classes will utilize the latest technology  to guarantee member time on the wheels more thrilling than ever. Another must-try is the indoor Climbing Wall – the perfect challenge for both body and mind.  Virgin Active will also premier their first ever high-altitude training studio which will accommodate short duration group training classes with a simulated altitude of up to an amazing 3000 meters!

The club will be full of the latest state-of-the-art equipment, much of which has never been seen in Thailand. Advanced technology systems will allow members to effortlessly manage their health and wellness needs and to stay fully connected with the outside world.

Beyond traditional gym equipment, Virgin Active takes a holistic and innovative approach to fitness and wellbeing. The club will include a large indoor swimming pool, a huge hydrotherapy spa pool, ice and steam rooms, hot and cold sensation showers, and a Salt Room which uses Himalayan Rock Salt to help detox the body, rejuvenate skin and purify breathing. Virgin Active at Empire Tower will even offer futuristic Sleep Pods allowing members to take short power-naps! Change rooms are designed to include luxurious fittings and amenities in a spacious, premium environment. Complimentary Wi-Fi and Internet stations in The Lounge give you a reason to spend time enjoying the healthy treats from the café on the ground floor of the club.

All of this will be available at a great value-for-money rate with no need commit to a long-term commitment.  Virgin Active offers memberships that maximise flexibility and make it easy for members to leave if they need to. New members will be able to sign up for an initial period of only four weeks, which then renews in fortnightly increments. To leave, all a member needs to do provide notice at least three days before their fortnightly renewal.

Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, said: “Virgin Active has been one of the true success stories of the Virgin Group over the past 14 years. I’m so happy to see the business expanding into Thailand. Everyone knows how important it is to stay fit and in good health. At Virgin Active, we help people achieve their goals and ensure they have a little bit of fun along the way. I have no doubt Thais will love getting fit, the Virgin way."

Sir Richard continued, “We see a huge opportunity for Virgin Active in Thailand and would like to offer more clubs over the next few years.”

“We have drawn on the best of what we do around the world to redefine the fitness club experience in Bangkok. The club will cater for everyone and provide them with the supportive and motivating environment they need to achieve their goals. It’s more about the relationship than the membership. We want to put people first and make a positive change to their lives.” said Mark Blackman, Managing Director for Virgin Active in Asia Pacific.
